Region Projects, Initiatives, Programs

All of the following projects or services are provided by the entire SESC team, they are ongoing, funded, sustainable projects, initiatives, or programs.
  • Online Library - We supervise and coordinate region-wide Overdrive Library.  
  • Education Technology Professional Learning - We provide on a regular and regional basis teacher technology training, support, planning and collaborative environment.
  • eRate:  We provide eRate support for the region.  We can file for regional eRate funded purchases for priority two equipment. We will work with the district technology directors each year to determine need.  Participants change on a yearly basis.
  • KOHA Support & Expansion - We provide server support, updates, backups, software, documentation and support structure for Koha.  We also can provide first line support for Koha to the media specialists in the schools.
  • IVC Classroom, Scheduling, and Support - We provide IVC scheduling and setup for online meetings,  conferencing, and classes for all requesting districts.  Request for IVC should come through the school Ednet facilitator, technology director or district/site administrator.  We have an UEN endorsed IVC classroom located in our office.
  • Librarian Professional Learning - We provide on a regular and regional basis librarian/media specialist training, support, planning and collaboration.
  • Math, Reading, Technology, APT, ESL Endorsements and Licensing.   We provide funding, support, scheduling with video conferencing, coordination and scheduling in the SESC region, and implementation of each class. Districts help find teachers and provide support for the video conferencing  equipment in each district.
  • Online Driver’s Education Course - We provide, fund, coordinate, and receive registrations for this course.  We use the Canvas system by Instructure.  This course is currently offered to students who reside in the following school districts: Beaver, Carbon, Emery, Grand, Garfield, Iron, Juab, Kane, Millard, North Sanpete, Piute, San Juan, Sevier, South Sanpete, Tintic, Washington, Wayne and Logan High School. Charter Schools: Athenian eAcademy.
  • Posters - We provide poster printing on a large format printer. The district/school provides the poster layouts.  Request for posters should come through the school media specialist, teacher or principal.
  • Quiz Bowls - Each year we sponsor and provide funding, equipment for eight quiz bowls with four at the high school level and four at the middle school level.  Each bowl has a varsity and junior varsity division.
  • Region Sponsored Conferences: Media, Administrators, Secretaries, and Tech Retreats Planning - We provide funding, scheduling, coordination, promotion and presenters for these localized conferences.
  • Regional Technology Advisory Committee (RTAC) - We provide on a regular and regional basis technology director training, support, planning and collaborative environment.
  • Spelling Bee - Each year we host a regional spelling bee with the first place finisher qualifying to participate in the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in Washington, D.C.
  • Sponsored Associations, Boards, Conferences, and Events: We have membership, help sponsor, attend, provide coordination, support, promote and contribute presenters for these conferences or events: CForum, TForum, SAINTCON, TCC, UEN Tech Summit, UCET, URSA, USBE, and USSA
  • STEM Endorsement - We provide funding, support, scheduling on video conferencing, coordination of the region, and implementation of each class. Districts help find teachers and provide support for the IVC equipment in each district.
  • Surveys - We provide and help facilitate accreditation and evaluations surveys for the region.
  • Teacher Toolkits - We promote and provide teaching toolkits for districts in the region. Request for toolkits should come through the school media specialist, teacher or principal..
